Annie Byrnes is a freelance journalist with a focus on the environment, science and health. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, Crain's New York Business and The Wall Street Journal.
After earning a bachelor's degree in biology from Penn State University, Annie received her Masters of Journalism at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in New York City.
Following graduation, Annie worked for WATE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Knoxville, Tennessee, first as an associate producer, producing newscasts for 6 News at 5:30 and 6 News at 11 as well as the CW20 News at 10. Later, she was promoted to web content manager where she managed WATE.com, writing and editing all daytime news content for the station's website.
After moving to Grand Rapids, Michigan, Annie also taught Introduction to Journalism and Advanced Journalism as an adjunct professor at Aquinas College.
Annie currently works as a freelance writer and multimedia reporter in Brooklyn. In her free time, she designs portfolio websites for fellow journalists and researches genealogy for family and friends.
